That was my second trip to Penang after all theses years. And I daresay, I miss that little island already :') First, there was the unforgettable Penang Bridge Marathon, dubbed the not the biggest but the best received Marathon with the highest number of participants taking part this time round in the whole nation. I'm proud to have earned my Finisher's medal this year in the 10km junior's event based on my own record, because honestly speaking, the officials just GIVE that Goddamn medal to whoever who asks for it. Like you can arrive three hours later for 10km and still most likely get your desired medal (If you make a special request for it :P)
But the highlight of that run for me, is befriending a stranger. You heard me right, Hae. A STRANGER. But if it's a nice looking 31 year old lady who coincidentally just finished her own run and is sitting by the benches facing the Penang Bridge and also enjoying the morning view of the bridge you just ran on and plus, she SMILED at you, being 16 and looking lost in a place you're not familiar with... My gut instinct said,"Stick with her" Which I did.
Her name was Sari. And it turned out that we share the fact that we're both from East Malaysia :) I guess that explained her beautiful complexion, and after the common table talk that all strangers have, we hit it off pretty well I dare say. I mean, I did joke about it but she definitely seemed more like a friend rather than a babysitter XD We talked about our common interests and ultimately well, the more personal questions... But I'm keeping that part P&C ;) It was just out of the world, meeting a stranger whom you can share so much with, knowing that both of us would probably never see each other again perhaps that was why we felt comfortable telling each other so much. And weirdly after that, it began to drizzle, forcing the both of us to seek shelter and eventually say our Goodbyes shortly after that. When she brushed her cheek against mine and wished me well, I had a warm feeling inside. Having turned someone from a "Who are you" to a "I'll miss you". It was heartwarming indeed, remembering one of the most enlightening sunrises that I've ever seen in 16 years of my existence. Well hopefully, just hopefully Hae, there will a lot more to come :) And that I'll remember just enough to tell you all about it too :3
Oh! And last but not least but here's a peek at my Batik painting yesterday. I've never been happier looking at another chicken :)
Bananaliciously Yours,
CCM.
